Mobile Deployment FAQ

How does it work

The new Mobile Deployment Packs allow LiveCode applications to be authored for and compiled as native standalone applications on each target mobile platform. The standalone application builder incorporates the ability to apply settings and build for each of the target platforms. iOS support is currently shipping with other platforms to follow shortly.

In order to test and debug your work, you will need to have the appropriate development kit for the target mobile platform installed. These kits are supplied by the mobile OS vendors and include the appropriate simulator. You will need to comply with all legal requirements associated with these kits as set forth by the vendors of the mobile OSes. For example, to sell commercial applications on the iPhone, you will be required to be a registered developer with Apple and obtain the necessary approval for your application. While LiveCode can create applications that comply technically with the requirements for Apple's app store, you will still be required to ensure that your specific application complies with the store policies and is approved by Apple if you want to deploy to the iPhone.

What do these Deployment Packs cost?

Each Deployment Pack starts at $99 for personal, non-commercial or educational use. Professional use requires a LiveCode Commercial License which starts at $499. Each additional Deployment Pack will be $299 for commercial use.

Will you be supporting Linux-mobile devices?

We have no plans for immediate support for these devices but are considering it for the future.

Will you be supporting Windows Phone 7?

We have had only very limited customer demand for this platform. Additionally Microsoft have announced that they will not be supporting native code development in the first version of Windows Phone 7. Existing Windows Mobile applications will not be able to run. We will be looking at ways to support this platform in the future if there is sufficient customer demand for it.
